I has issues setting up haystack with xapian after upgrading Django and haystack so I've switched to whoosh. I created a blank folder /home/kbuzz/whoosh_index but when I try to do a search it returns nothing.

Settings.

HAYSTACK_CONNECTIONS = {
    'default': {
        'ENGINE': 'haystack.backends.whoosh_backend.WhooshEngine',
        'PATH': '/home/kbuzz/whoosh_index',
    },
}

When I try to run ./manage.py rebuild_index
